I find it both amazing and disheartening when I share nutrition information with folks who then tell me, it's too expensive to eat healthier or take supplements. Why is that amazing? Because those folks who are telling me it's too expensive regularly spend their money on expensive but nutrient-poor processed foods.  They usually drive a brand new car equipped with satellite radio, live in a $300,000 house, get their hair and nails done regularly, have either cable or satellite tv service and patronize Starbucks for $3 and $4 coffees daily. When I talk to these people and when I observe the chemical-laden nutrient-poor "food" these folks are buying in grocery stores I sometimes wonder where our priorities have gone. While I shake my head knowing their health will eventually fail; I know when they lose their health they will shake their heads in disbelief not understanding why.
 
But then I think back to my before-Lupus days. Back then I took health for granted too.  When you feel good you don't fully understand what it would be or feel like to have the rug pulled out from under your life by an illness. And you certainly don't expect it.  Folks, there is NO-ONE else in my family with autoimmune illness. Lupus striking me was a total surprise. And it was a wake-up call. Do YOU want a wake-up call? Diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, auto-immune illness, cancer; those are just a few of the unwanted wake-up calls.  The most important thing for you to realize is YOU can take action in your life to help prevent having a wake-up call.
 
The reason I went back to school (at the age of 50!) to complete a Masters Degree in Holistic Nutrition and the reason this website is here is because I don't want you to have a wake-up call. After all I've learned about life-giving nutrition I am truly shocked and saddened when I go to the grocery store and see a family's two carts loaded with nothing but nutrient-poor processed foods. "Foods" laden with chemicals, artificial coloring and  preservatives which our bodies weren't made to handle. It's totally amazing to see a family with two full grocery carts without any fresh veggies or fruits!  Unfortunately, I see that every time I go to the grocery store.

My mission and passion is to educate folks about the lack of nutrition in our food supply. People really don't understand how great the lack of nutrition is in our food supply because they have three meals a day. It's hard to understand under-nourishment when your plate is full. Though they are they don't see themselves as under-nourished. It is imperative everyone gets serious and THINKS seriously about the nutrition they are or (in most cases) aren't giving their body. We've become so used to convenience nutrition is not even a second thought to most people. Our taken-for-granted convenience is making us sick. How often do YOU pull into a fast food place or reach for a microwavable dinner? 
 
To often in today's society food dollars and calories are mostly squandered on processed, junk or fast foods. You MUST give your body red, yellow, green, orange veggies and fruits. Those colors represent the LIFE-GIVING nutrients your body needs to work in the way it was designed. You must give your body FRESH, REAL (not processed) whole foods along with quality supplements to support and optimize your body's ability to gravitate to health.

Go to a mirror in your house. Look at yourself.
 Ask yourself:

What would life be like without my health?
What if I couldn't do the things I enjoy?
What if I were so sick I couldn't work to support myself?
Do I really eat nutritiously? Or do I predominantly eat processed foods?

Then decide to love yourself enough to make a commitment to honor your health with what you eat. Make a commitment to be aware of the nutrient content of the  food you eat. Make a commitment to give yourself a better life thru nutrition.  You have only one body, one life and life is too short and too splendidly beautiful to take your health for granted.
